ABOUT NONSURGICAL RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty is a common cosmetic surgery that reshapes and changes the appearance of the nose. But enhancing the nose does not always require surgery. For Beverly Hills men and women who desire subtle changes to the nose, an injectable filler, such as Juvéderm, can be used. This filler can be used to add height, to straighten a curvature, enhance projection, or fill in an imperfection. Referred to as nonsurgical rhinoplasty or "liquid rhinoplasty," this is an effective way to sculpt the nose with the strategic use of dermal fillers. Beverly Hills board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jaime Schwartz has been performing nonsurgical rhinoplasty for years and has pioneered a number of methods in the course of his profession. His goal to create a balanced, natural look with the necessary enhancements the patient desires most. Most cases of nonsurgical rhinoplasty will be performed with Juvéderm, but some patients may benefit by using Restylane. To schedule a consultation with Dr. Schwartz, we invite you to call our plastic surgery center for more information.
COMMON COSMETIC COMPLAINTS
- Nasal Hump
A nasal hump is a common complaint among both men and women who desire some form of rhinoplasty treatment. Their goal after treatment is to have a straighter nasal top that is slightly scooped. Nasal humps are made up of cartilage and bone. If it is small enough, it can be evened out with the use of fillers by injecting the filler above and below the hump for a smooth, straighter surface. During the evaluation, if Dr. Schwartz feels the hump is too large, surgery may be required. - Bulbous Nasal Tip (Rounded Tip)
A bulbous nasal tip is one that appears overly rounded. It is another common reason that patients seek rhinoplasty or nose reshaping. This particular feature is caused by wide and separated nasal tip cartilage. A filler can be injected into the central portion of this area to add projection to the tip and lessen the rounded look. By using a filler, there is often an optical illusion where the nasal tip not only looks more projected but appears more narrow as well. - Shallow Nasal Height (Flat Nose)
A flat nose is another imperfection that patients often want to enhance. This occurs when the nasal bones are shallow so the nasal tip tends to be broad or bulbous. Dr. Schwartz is able to use injectable fillers effectively by injecting the liquid directly into the nasal bone to provide the nose with more height. Dermal fillers can also be injected over the nasal tip cartilage, which gives the tip more definition. - Cartilage Irregularities at the Tip
The nose is made up of a matrix of cartilage and bone. The tip, which is a delicate feature of the nose, is made up of cartilage that can sometimes be seen through the skin. This is a feature that can easily be enhanced with a filler product. In some patients, the cartilage can appear twisted under the skin. The filler is injected right over this area to smooth and camouflage these imperfections.

IDEAL CANDIDATES
You are a good candidate for a nonsurgical rhinoplasty using an injectable filler if you want to reshape your nose without surgery or want to:
- Smooth out and reduce the appearance of a nasal hump
- Increase the height of the nose
- Sculpt and straighten a crooked nose
- Improve and increase the projection of the nasal tip
- Reduce or eliminate nasal depressions and visible irregularities
PROCEDURE TECHNIQUE
Nonsurgical rhinoplasty is ideal for men and women with minor imperfections that can be corrected without surgery, such as smaller nasal humps, flat nose bones, wide tips, rounded tips, and small depressions. In many cases, patients are not aware that injectable fillers can, in fact, take the place of a surgical procedure, helping to reduce the recovery time, risk, and expense of surgery. During the consultation, Dr. Schwartz will evaluate all aspects of the nose and determine which filler product will be used during treatment. The nose is looked at from all angles and assessed for imperfections in height, projection, curvature, and other visible irregularities. Dr. Schwartz offers Juvéderm and Restylane fillers for nonsurgical rhinoplasty. Both filler products are comprised of soft gels that can last 1 – 2 years. After the consultation, the injection sites are marked and the designated filler product is injected in layers into the nose. Dr. Schwartz performs this technique in a precise and delicate manner, manually massaging the filler into place for the desired result. This process usually takes about ten minutes, and then a cold compress is applied to ease minor swelling.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Once the procedure is complete, patients can expect minor redness, tenderness, or swelling. These symptoms are temporary and usually go away within 1 – 2 days. Nonsurgical rhinoplasty is an in-office treatment, which means patients are free to return to their daily activities immediately after treatment. Although fillers can create a balanced look that enhances your natural beauty, routine treatments are required to maintain results. Patients typically visit Dr. Schwartz once a year for touch-ups, but this varies for each patient.
